Looking for Keyword Ideas or How Many People Searched for a Given Keyword? Look No Further.

If you’re embarking on a new search engine optimization project or seeking to calibrate an existing one, you must access Google’s Keyword Tool. It’s free, it’s pretty amazing, and it can quickly help you fine-tune your SEO project based on popular keywords. (As providers of SEO in Miami it’s like our SEO Bible.)

You can use the tool in two distinct ways. First, you can enter proposed keywords, hit Search, and Google will provide other suggestions. So, for example, we entered “Miami coffee shop” and Google provided approximately 48 keyword ideas along with useful data. For example, “coffee shops in Miami” (different, mind you, than “Miami coffee shops), got 720 Global monthly searches and 390 local searches.

Better yet, the tool provides a snapshot of the competition for a given keyword. Think of it as an analysis of the virtual real estate market. So again, the “Competition,” according to Google, for “coffee shops in Miami” is “Low” meaning there aren’t many other Web sites vying for the same keyword. As a result, you can focus on these keywords as competition is relatively minimal.

In the next post, we’ll look at another fascinating and equally important way to make Google’s Keyword tool work for you.
